Join Community Thread in helping develop new volunteer events or support existing events as a Young Professional! Young Professionals Committee Members will primarily work with Volunteer Center staff to help with volunteer recruitment for events, develop and plan new events, and promote the work of Community Thread. Volunteers may also support other Community Thread events.


  • Provide support and capacity to Community Thread’s Volunteer Center key initiatives, including recruiting, educating, motivating and engaging key audiences
  • Develop and plan new volunteer events that promote a sense of community
  • Explore strategies to connect skills-based volunteers with local nonprofits


  • Demonstrated community engagement skills
  • Experience working with volunteers a plus
  • Team-oriented work style and effective interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to ask questions and receive feedback
  • Ideal candidates between the ages of 21-40

Time Commitment:

  • 3-6 hours/month; 3 month minimum commitment
  • Able to attend monthly evening meetings in person; additional meetings for projects may be required


  • Learn about volunteerism and event planning
  • Contribute to the increased visibility of Community Thread and implementation of effective event planning strategies
  • Network with area professionals and community members
