ORGANIZATION: CAN Council Great Lakes Bay Region

Want to become a highly trained volunteer that serves as a voice for children in the foster care system due to abuse or neglect? CAN Council Great Lakes Bay Region has some openings for CASA’s (Court Appointed Special Advocates). CASA's research a case that they are assigned, assess the facts, identify key problems and submit court reports with the guidance of a CASA supervisor. A CASA supervisor provides forty hours of training with all volunteers interested in becoming a CASA, after the forty hours of training volunteers get sworn in by a judge in the county they choose to be assigned a case, either in Saginaw County or Bay County. There is additional training, supervision, and guidance that a CASA Supervisor will provide to each CASA/Volunteer as they attend hearings, provide insight to the judge and recommend actions in the child's best interest through the guidance of a CASA supervisor.
