Global Green USA seeks volunteers to support to the successful execution of an educational event that will promote better environmental sustainability practices in New York City apartments.

Landflling or burning recoverable wastes costs cities and businesses millions of dollars each year and releases potent greenhouse gases. With the support and participation of a variety of corporate and philanthropic partners, Global Green’s Coalition for Resource Recovery (CoRR) helps to develop, implement, and improve systems by which these wastes can be consistently and economically recovered, bringing valuable material back onto the market and creating a net greenhouse gas benefit. Multi-family dwellings or apartment buildings one of the most difficult areas for program implementation because tenants do not have the direct incentive to reduce waste generated. Global Green hopes to tackle that issue by building a network of innovative problem solvers, property managers and city agencies.

As a volunteer, you can directly assist in the event's success. The event will give property managers a glimpse into new innovations for food waste diversions and a look into the best practices for tenant engagement. More specifically, volunteers will work under the direction of Global Green's Director to provide event support on the day of through tasks such as event set-up, guest check-in, technical assistance and more.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to learn about innovations in food waste recovery, composting and waste diversion. You will gain additional experience in event planning and event management. This role has potential to expand with event support throughout the year.

Requirements:

• Self-starter, able to work independently and solve problems

• Highly-organized and detail-oriented individual

• Ability to multitask

• Excellent interpersonal, networking, verbal and written communication skills

• Customer service experience

• Knowledge of Powerpoint helpful

• Interest in environmental sustainability, especially food waste, as well as nonprofit management is a plus
