About Harbor Light Center:
For more than 70 years in two previous locations on Chicago’s West Side, The Salvation Army’s Harbor Light Center has provided comprehensive, specialized services to help people overcome their addiction to drugs or alcohol and successfully reclaim their lives in a safe, structured and secure environment.

In addition to providing intensive rehabilitation treatment in a residential setting, the Harbor Light Center offers outpatient transitional services and other programs to support long-term success and recovery, such as employment training and a transitional jobs program. Offering a sequence of programs and treatment levels enables clients to set and achieve personal, positive objectives to overcome their addiction, re-establish their lives and return to their families and communities as productive citizens.

The Harbor Light Center in Chicago is one of The Salvation Army’s largest residential substance abuse recovery programs in the country, with accommodations for up to 200 men. Clients in the residential program have private rooms and may stay for four to five years to achieve rehabilitation and stability.

The new Harbor Light Center will be a bright, modern residential facility with updated private rooms, a basketball court, indoor and outdoor gymnasiums, classrooms and many other amenities that will significantly enhance clients’ treatment, recovery and sense of dignity.
