VITA volunteers prepare and e-file tax returns for free to low and moderate income taxpayers. This saves the tax payers hundreds of dollars in paid preparer fees and provides an opportunity for low income tax payers to receive tax credits.
The IRC in Phoenix is seeking two highly organized and independent leaders to serve as VITA Site Coordinators. The VITA program is administered by the IRC and is governed by specific quality guidelines and standards of operations. Site Coordinators are responsible for ensuring that their sites- and all volunteers working at them- adhere to IRS standards. Coordinators will manage volunteers at their sites, scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage during all operating hours, and following up via phone or email with volunteers as needed. They will track volunteer hours and provide required reports to IRC and the IRS on a monthly basis documenting all volunteers working at their sites. All coordinators will also complete VITA certification through the advanced level so they can assist where needed with tax preparation and/or Quality Review.
The level of responsability and training provided in this position make it feasible for it to be turned into an internship opportunity if the applicant desires.
