Women in Comedy is seeking a passionate, independent, bad-ass woman to head up our LA chapter.

Women In Comedy in a nonprofit 501(c) (3) that is headquartered in the Comedy Capital of the U.S. - Chicago. Our work has been featured in ELLE magazine, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, NY Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, Comcast, and more. We are expanding our outreach to help women all over the country and we need your help!

If you have a passion for leadership, gender parity, love to laugh, and love the idea of empowering women and girls - you will love volunteering with our organization. This is a great resume builder and an exciting experience for the right person.

CHAPTER PRESIDENT OVERVIEW OF DUTIES

As a leader in our organization, your vital role as President of the LA Chapter will be to carry out our mission statement to empower, connect, and advocate for women and girls seeking paid careers in comedy. The President is the head planner and recruiter for our 3 key events each year (put on in sister cities across the nation in Feb, July, and Dec).

If you are an upbeat, hard-working, and reliable individual with a passion for planning and uplifting women then you will love this role as Chapter President of LA.

KEY DUTIES

  • Will create a chapter in LA and put on 2 to 3 events a year with support from our headquarters in Chicago

    • this role is a 1-year min commitment and is responsible for finding its replacement at the end of 2017

  • Responsible for recruiting 3 other part time volunteers to your chapter board to help with your chapter and meet for bi- monthly meetings (Recommended 2-3 other passionate people on your chapter board)

  • Coordinating event details as delegated by the Executive director of Women in Comedy (Chicago) including logistics, spreadsheets, phone calls, emails, on-site visits, etc.

  • Phone calls, emails, and outreach to build a network

  • 10 hrs of estimated volunteer work per week

    • commitment estimate is based on quality completion of tasks; workload can be lessened by recruiting a committed and reliable team


Requirements:

  • Has access to a computer, internet, and smart phone

  • Has reliable transportation

  • Lives within 30 min of LA

  • Knowledge of online platforms such as google drive and generally tech savvy
