Horse leaders participate directly in the therapy sessions with our riders. Their main responsibility is to control the horse during grooming and the lesson. It is the leader who must help in guiding, stopping and starting without making the rider feel that they are simply a passenger.
Minimum age is 14 and must have previous horse experience and be approved by the instructor.

Description
Since 2005, GaitWay has provided the Baton Rouge special needs community with Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies. Gai tWay strives to empower those facing the challenges associated with disabilities, accidents or illness through therapeutic sports riding and hippotherapy. Instructors, therapists and volunteers work with participants to set individual goals. All goals focus on physical, intellectual, social and emotional healing to enable riders to reach optimal functioning in their daily lives.
