When you begins volunteering at our Equine Center there are multiple levels which you can rise through.

Level 1 Orange:
NO HORSE INTERACTION AT LEVEL 1
Activities:
laundry, cleaning the following: bathroom ,tack room, stalls, refrigerator, hay barn, the porperty.
Must be level 1 for 20 hours with additonal trainig to move to the next level.

Level 2 Lime:
MINIMAL HORSE HANDLING AT LEVEL 2
Activities:
All level 1 duties, assist with feeding, assist with grooming, learn horse body language.
Must shadow a level 3 volunteer for 12 hours to move up to the next level.

Level 3 Green:
Activities:
Halter the horses, lead a horse properly, groom the horses, remove fly masks, clean eyes, help feed special supplements.
At Level 3, volunteers will be assigned to work with specific horses based on the volunteer’s demonstrated proficiency at handling horses and on the traits of specific horses. Volunteers will be advised which horses they are allowed to work with and that information will be contained in the Volunteer’s Training Record. You may not work with any other than your assigned horses until being approved by the Horse Care and Training Specialist or Director.

Level 4 Blue:
TEAM LEADER
MUST HAVE COMPLETED 20 HOURS AT LEVEL 1 AND 40 HOURS AT LEVEL 2 AND ONE YEAR OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE OR BY APPROVAL OF THE EQUINE DIRECTOR.
Activities: Everything to do with past levels, be personable, be commited to YHS, delegate jobs to other volunteers, make sure everything on the taskboard is being done, make sure all gates are locked.

Special Treatment And Recovery, Seniors for Seniors adoptions, F.E.L.I.X. Feral Cat Awareness, Safety Net, New Hope and Enrichment Program.
