Our museum is on a 52 acre property that features a Florida Wildlife trail, many historic buildings, a science discovery center, an 1880’s farm, a pine flatwoods trail, and tree-to-tree zip line adventures. However, very few of our guests visit all of these exhibits, even though they all connect to tell a rich and complex story of Florida’s past, present, and future.
The Guest Services department is seeking volunteers to greet visitors and introduce them to our museum grounds and services. This position is ideal for someone outgoing, friendly, and yet comfortable with intermittent busy and slow periods. It is great for someone who loves people, is only available on weekends, and has a passion for the Museum and its mission to enrich the community by spreading knowledge of the cultural and natural communities in the Big Bend region. It is also a fun way to learn about the entire museum in a very detailed way, providing an avenue to serve within more specific volunteer roles like being a Living History Docent.
