Play & Learn Program Assistant
Description of Program: Play is learning! Toddlers explore and connect in this unstructured and imaginative playtime. Parent/caregiver participation is required.
Summary of Program: Parents/caregivers with children ages 18-36 months are invited to spend time playing with their children in a room with toys provided. Volunteer will assist with setting up the room for the playgroup; interact with families during the program; and assist with clean up following the program. Dress code for this program is business casual. Volunteers will be expected to sit on the floor and interact with families during the program.
This opportunity is ideal for students in behavioral or early childhood study programs.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be 18 years or older and available on Monday mornings from 10:30am-12:30pm. Volunteer should have good communication skills, a cheerful and welcoming attitude, and be comfortable interacting with children and families. Volunteers must have reliable transportation. All volunteers must complete the City of Plano volunteer application if selected for this position. A criminal background check will be done as part of the volunteer process. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities: Help set-up the room with a variety of toys for the playgroup session; organize and put away toys at the end of the session. Interact with families during the session and answer questions as appropriate.
Details: Play & Learn is held weekly on Mondays from 11am-12noon from January 9-May 5 at Haggard Library. The library is located at 2501 Coit Rd in Plano.
