Most of America's tidal coastlines are collection points for trash and storm debris and have NEVER been cleaned up. The harder these areas are to access, the more critical they are to wildlife - shorebirds and sea turtle nest beyond the high tide line and once hatched need to be able to cross back to the sea.
Wounded Nature works to clean up these critical coastal areas that very few other groups focus on. By removing the trash and debris from the high tide line area, we can reduce sea turtle and shore bird deaths. In doing so, we also increase shrimp and baby fish populations inside tidal marshes. While anyone can volunteer and participate in the clean-up, Wounded Nature is founded by veterans, completes projects with a crew of veteran volunteers and environmentally concerned volunteers, and works to hire veterans when possible.
Wounded Nature is an IRS approved 501c3 non-profit.

Mission Statement
Wounded Nature - Working Veterans assembles volunteer boaters and veterans to remove debris from hard to reach coastal areas designated by Fish and Wildlife Service and Department of Natural Resources as critical wildlife areas. Our goal is to increase the amount of domestic fish, shrimp and shellfish stocks.
Description
Currently most beaches and rivers adjacent to major cities are staging annual clean-ups through the use of volunteers and efforts organized by various non-profit groups. However, the areas most important to wildlife: the isolated beaches, bays, and estuaries are not being cleaned up on an annual basis. These are crucial birthing areas for endangered and threatened species. The constant accumulation and breakdown of debris, trash and plastics in these critical areas builds up high toxicity levels, and kills generations of future wildlife.
