I am looking to establish a volunteer grant writing committee to support our efforts in soliciting funds for Wesley House Student Residence, specifically to upgrade the building and expand the support services for our student residents. We currently have very limited staff resources available. The following are some of the skill sets we will need on the committee:
Researcher: builds a case for support, including a compelling statement of need. This person should be somewhat analytical and able to make connections between facts and figures.
Writer: takes all of the information and turns it into a compelling request for support.
Graphic designer: takes data and develops charts and graphs, or creates any visual that will strengthen the request.
Copyeditor: reviews the entire proposal before it is submitted, making sure it is grammatically clean.
Proposal coordinator: reviews all of the grant guidelines and assembles the final package.

Mission Statement
Wesley House Student Residence (WHSR) empowers system-impacted students, including those who have aged out of foster care, were formerly incarcerated &/or are homeless, to realize their post-secondary education goals through affordable/subsidized housing and a network of services. Our programs are designed to end homelessness and foster resilience and self-confidence as our residents achieve their academic and career goals.
Description
Wesley House Student Residence is a nonprofit 501c(3) organization operating the only affordable supportive housing complex serving low-income and systemically marginalized college students in San Diego County. Our student residents face additional challenges such as experiencing housing insecurity/ homelessness, being formerly incarcerated and/or aging out of the foster care system. Many are the first generation in their family to attend college. We currently operate in one location with 11 units serving 24 student residents. In addition to housing, we offer an onsite food pantry, targeted monthly programs, and individualized wraparound support services. Our community food pantry provides nutritious food to more than 400 students. Please reach out to us to learn more!
