Ongoing & IMMEDIATE OPPORTUNITIES: August 12, 2017 - RESULTS Bay Area Regional Conference in Oakland with Orientation from 9:30-10:30, then Conference till 3:00 pm. Rides available.

After the election, many of us are wondering what's next and looking for the most effective ways to tackle one of world's toughest, yet resolvable, issues.

RESULTS (results.org) is a registered charity working to support the World Bank and United Nations in accomplishing their stated mission of ending extreme U.S. and global poverty by 2030 (defined as no person living on less than $1.90/day).

We do this by using our voices to change the world. Our 2000 volunteers in 28 countries meet with our Congressional Representatives and Senators at least once annually in the Capital and once in their local districts, and ask them to take specific positions on bills that will support the end of poverty through education, health and economic opportunity. We also write editorials and undertake community outreach to inform other citizens about how each of us can end poverty by 2030.

While you may be distressed to know that 17,000 children are dying every day due to hunger-related issues, I’m most excited that we’ve cut global poverty by half in recent decades, and saved millions of children’s lives. There is more still to be done, so I’d like to invite you to hear about it all at an upcoming event at the World Affairs Council in San Francisco.

RESULTS is a bipartisan organization that has been around for 36 years and worked within under a number of political climates, and achieved remarkable results!

RESULTS is a movement of regular, committed, everyday people (like you and me) who use our voices to help bring an END to POVERTY - in the US and globally. As volunteers, we are trained, supported, and inspired to speak with decision makers - members of Congress and the media - to encourage them to take action to expand access to health, education, and economic opportunity for all people. Over time, we learn to advocate powerfully for some of the most important issues of our time, and together, we realize the incredible power we have to change the world.

We have 110 chapters across the country, small groups grounded in our local communities that are a part of a global solidarity movement. We work in coordination to ensure that all people - especially children - can care for their most basic needs so that they can survive and thrive and reach their full potential.

We have chapters across the Bay Area and around the nation including San Francisco, Los Altos, San Ramon, Sausalito, Berkeley, Santa Cruz, etc.

At our monthly events we'll learn about some issues that RESULTS Bay Area activists can tackle, learn skills and strategy, and take a quick action to help promote effective education, health and economic opportunity leading to the end of extreme poverty by 2030 through Congressional and Senatorial support.

Come on out to learn how you can join local citizens to be a part of the solution to this globally and act locally in Arkansas! We would love to meet you!

We meet on the 2nd Saturday of every month from 11 am - 1 pm.

About RESULTS

Location:

1101 15th Street NW, Suite 1200, Washington, DC 20005, US

Mission Statement

RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed everyday people. Together they use their voices to influence political decisions that will bring an end to poverty. Volunteers receive training, support, and inspiration to become skilled advocates. In time, volunteers learn to effectively advise policy makers, guiding them towards decisions that improve access to education, health, and economic opportunity. With every hour of their time, volunteers multiply their impact through the enormous power of advocacy -- whether it’s helping change policy to support millions of families putting food on the table or helping raise billions of dollars for the world’s most vulnerable children. Backed by the in-depth research and legislative expertise of staff, RESULTS advocates realize the incredible power they possess to use their voices to change the world.

Description

For over 40 years, RESULTS and RESULTS Educational Fund have been shining light on critical, effective solutions to poverty. By combining the powerful voices of civic advocates with research and oversight of U.S. anti-poverty efforts at home and abroad, RESULTS has been changing government priorities and people’s lives.

"I saw RESULTS on VolunteerMatch, but I wasn’t sure what advocacy was. Before that, I wasn’t really aware of the way different government policies impacted me. But RESULTS gave me a whole new perspective. I learned that if you want change, first you need to see what members of Congress are doing and build connections." - Yaseer Khanani

"I became an advocate because I wanted to be more involved in an organization that strives to make positive change. I really appreciate how genuine and dedicated everyone is to the RESULTS mission." - Sunjay Menon

"At RESULTS, we advocate for the issues that are close to my heart, like global health, education, and poverty eradication. I get to talk about issues that I witness throughout my professional and personal life. I can effect change by raising my voice." - Shabina Hussein
