Thorne Nature Experience is a non-profit organization that is committed to building Earth stewardship by connecting youth to nature through joyful, hands-on, place-based environmental education experiences. Founded in Boulder, CO in 1954, Thorne has a rich history and has reached more than 300,000 children and adults through its programs. We are looking for help getting youth outside and connecting to the wild landscapes of Colorado!
Opportunities vary by season, time commitment, age requirements, and location. Education Program volunteers might facilitate After School Programs in Boulder County schools, co-teach Nature Preschool, or assist with Summer Camp Programs across Boulder County’s open spaces. Administrative Volunteers might work on fundraising, outreach, social media, bird banding data entry, land management, and so much more! All Volunteers and Interns work closely with Thorne staff with the goal of connecting youth to nature.

Description
Thorne Nature Experience, formerly Thorne Ecological Institute, was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1954 by Dr. Oakleigh Thorne, II and is currently celebrating 60 years of connecting youth to nature through joyful, hands-on, place-based environmental education experiences. During the past six decades, Thorne has connected more than 300,000 children, teens, and adults to nature and become a nationally recognized leader in the field of environmental education. Today, Thorne’s Summer Camp, In-School Program, and Field Trips reach more than 12,000 Boulder County and Front Range youth each year.
