Help our youth learn important lessons and give back to their community through volunteerism! Our students have lots of ideas to make change happen, so we want to use them as launching points to create service learning projects!

As a service learning coordinator, you will connect the students with whom we work (ages 10-19) to service-learning opportunities in their communities! You will explore and research ways in which students can make a difference by communicating with community agencies and partners!

Service learning is important because it teaches our kids how to give back while learning something along the way!

Examples of successful service learning projects (borrowed from goodcharacter.com):

1) Students developed questions that were asked at the local "Foods with Friends" gathering. The students interviewed the seniors to learn about their community and then put on a skit for the seniors to show them what they had learned. They followed up with decorated "Thank You" cards to show their appreciation.

2) Students learning about animals went out into a nature center and took care of a butterfly nest. They then performed a play for other students and their parents dealing with what they had learned about butterflies at the nature center.

***Must be available week days, as we are open 9a-5p, M-F***

Please don't hesitate to apply! Training will be provided, and you will be supported by an incredible staff grateful for your help!

Description

Women In Position Everywhere (W.I.P.E.) has a headquarters located in Kansas City, MO and satellite office in Arlington, TX. We're excited about the "Are You My Sista's Keeper" Support Group for women ages 25 and up. Sessions for adolescents and young adults ages 11-24 are available as well. The "Are You My Sista's Keeper" program is designed to educate, inspire, and motivate you.

Participants will have an opportunity to share in a safe environment and unconditional love will always be present. Each monthly scheduled session will be uniquely designed to encourage and empower women and teens. The support group for teens and young adults is designed to address low self-esteem. Feelings of low self-esteem and feeling worthless may be triggered by being treated poorly by someone in the past, or by a person’s own judgments of herself.

If you are looking for a support group for women or you are a teen/young adult who may be struggling with low self-esteem and or low self-worth, the "Are You My Sista’s Keeper" Support Group can help you.
