Position Summary:

The volunteer position for Volunteer Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to identify, coordinate, schedule, and provide direction to a group of volunteers for the yearly fundraiser, Bike Ride and Family Festival, to benefit autism.

Essential Duties:

• Planning how and where to recruit volunteers and posting advertisements
• Recommend the most efficient use of volunteers; determine number of volunteers needed for each task, etc.
• Act as a point of contact with the committee heads for volunteer communications; give volunteers clear direction
• Schedule and conduct volunteer orientation / training prior to event
• Through communication with staff, confirm volunteer needs for the yearly event
• Delegate projects and tasks to appropriate volunteers; create volunteer schedule for before and during the event
• Manage and maintain volunteer database to track volunteers and their interests and availability
• Supervise volunteers during day of the event in an unstructured environment
• Be visible at the event to assist with volunteer questions; ensure all assignments are staffed and operating smoothly
• Attend weekly Status Meetings with team

Qualifications and Skills:

• Possess a (level of education)
• Experience managing volunteers or leading volunteer teams
• Excellent written, communication, listening and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions
• Be professional, patient, friendly, enthusiastic and energeticWillingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the yearly event
• Proficient in Word, Excel spreadsheets, Outlook, and internet usage
