Featured Exhibit Volunteer Role Summaries Pompeii: The Exhibition As a volunteer in the Featured Exhibit you will be stationed at one or all of the following positions during a single shift. Please familiarize yourself with the basic duties of each, in case you are asked to fill a position where you have not volunteered before.

Ticket Taking/Audio Guides

This volunteer is at the downstairs entrance outside of Pompeii. You will:

• · Take tickets
• · Stamp hands so visitors can re-enter the exhibit
• · Distribute audio guides if visitors have purchased a separate audio guide ticket
• · Keep visitors outside the exhibit until the Intro Video Volunteer takes the next group into the theater

Downstairs VIP

This volunteer is at the downstairs VIP door. You will:

• · Open the VIP door for guests that cannot take the stairs and direct them to the elevator
• · Communicate with the Upstairs VIP Volunteer via radio to let them know there are visitors coming up the elevator
• · Ensure that no guests enter the exhibit through the VIP door. Once outside, visitors can re-enter through the entrance or exit of the exhibit

Upstairs VIP and Exit

This volunteer works at the upstairs VIP door/exit on the second floor. You will:

• · Let visitors who have come up the elevator in through the VIP door
• · Allow visitors to re-enter through the exit only if they have a hand stamp
• · Direct any visitors that want to enter the exhibit for the first time to the entrance downstairs
• · Receive returned audio guides from visitors

Introductory Video

This volunteer is in the Introductory Video Theater within Pompeii. You will:

• · Bring a group of visitors (~40) into the theater space
• · Give a short announcement to the group (script provided)
• · Begin the introductory video
• · After the video is over, direct visitors to enter the rest of the exhibit
• · Please do not let visitors exit through the entrance. If they need to exit on the first floor, direct them to the VIP door

Eruption Theater

This volunteer is at the Eruption Theater on the second floor of Pompeii. You will:

• · Bring a group of visitors (~40) into the theater space
• · Give a short safety announcement (script provided)
• · Begin the eruption video
• · After the video is over, direct visitors into the cast gallery
• · We highly suggest visitors participate in this experience. If someone does not want to because of health or safety reasons, please let them through the bypass door

Exhibit Floating Volunteer

Floating volunteers roam all gallery spaces within Pompeii. You will:

• · Keep the exhibit safe and enjoyable for all
• · Answer any questions visitors might have
• · Help with wayfinding (bathrooms, exits, etc.)
• · Enforce exhibit rules (no food or drink, no flash photography, no running, etc.)
