The Food Leaders Club is a food justice education program for elementary school students. Every meeting, students will learn about a different concept related to the food system, including food waste and recovery, health advocacy, seasonal eating, and sustainability. Students will explore these concepts through interdisciplinary activities involving math, art, reading, and science and using fun, hands-on activities.
The dates of our club meetings (all Thursdays): January 5th, January 19th, February 2nd, February 16th, February 23rd, March 9th, March 23rd, April 20th, May 4th, May 18th, June 1st.The volunteer commitment is 4:30 - 6:30 pm. The club will meet at Paul's Place (1118 Ward Street, Baltimore, MD 21230).
The Food Leaders is a component of Kids in the Kitchen, Paul's Place's children's cooking education program. Kids in the Kitchen operates on the second and fourth week of the months, teaching kids at Paul's Place about healthy cooking and nutrition. Food Leaders will meet on the opposite weeks of Kids in the Kitchen, for Elementary School students ONLY, every other Thursday from 5-6 pm. Volunteers can choose to volunteer with Kids in the Kitchen, Food Leaders, or both programs. Food leaders need to be here from 4:30-6;30.
Volunteers who are interested in food justice/access, health sciences, education, sustainability, or agriculture would benefit from this opportunity.

Paul's Place offers over 20 programs and services focused on empowering our neighbors to satisfy basic needs for themselves and their families, overcome major obstacles such as lack of employment, illiteracy, or lack of a high school diploma, and to reach their full potential in other areas of their lives including health and wellness. Paul's Place offers these programs and services free of charge.
