Autism Fun Bay Area sponsors fun and easygoing hikes for autism and special needs families. We appreciate having volunteers onhand to help us look after the kids and young adults.

It's a lot of fun, and a great excuse to get some exercise while you also help parents keep an eye on those with disabilities.

Volunteers must be 18 or older, be physically strong enough to hike 4-5 miles with the occasional sprint to run after a kiddo, and have had experience or interest in working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Those who are squeamish or fearful about unusual behaviors or intellectual disabilities are probably not a great match for AFBA events. But if you love "special" people like we do, and love the outdoors, then this is a fabuous opportunity for you!

Group size at our hikes varies tremendously, anywhere from 4 to 20 people, with an average of 8-12. Having 1-3 volunteers is often incredibly helpful. Events are canceled in case of rain.

PLEASE SEE ALL OUR HIKE OPPORTUNITIES at Autism Fun Bay Area autismfunbayarea.org.
