This is a mentoring and leadership development program for ages 10 - 17. The sessions are generally 2-3 hours and are held at the public libraries and community centers in Clearwater and St. Pete areas on weekdays and/or 1 - 2 Saturdays per month. Volunteers are needed to help monitor youth activities, facilitate class projects, counsel and/or mentor.

Volunteers are not required to attend all activities,

Volunteers may be general helpers or professionals who desire to use their skills to empower the youth.

All volunteers must complete a volunteer profile and consent to a background check.

Description

A Will & Way, Inc. (AWWI) was founded in 2002 to empower survivors of Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence is mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and financial abuse, it affects individuals, families and communities. Over the years AWWI has created and implemented programs to include Woman to Woman & Men Talk, Life Skills Training, and spiritual counseling for men and women who were incarcerated; CEED- Children embraced, empowered and Delivered- a program for youth ages 10 -17; Teen Chat offering mentoring, life skills/Leadership Development, counseling, resources etc., throughout each year a Back to School and Christmas Giveaways were provided. A Reentry Program a transition home was provided for women, who were homeless upon their release, and provided medical care, GED & vocational training, and employment assistance. AWWI opened a Restoration center.
In 2015 the headquarters for AWWI was relocated to Central Florida, the educational classes/services, spiritual coaching sessions and emergency assistance services has expanded in multiple counties. AWWI has received numerous awards and recognition including the Points of Light Award. Its current goal is to implement the GEYM program.
