WORDPRESS Updates/IT ADMINISTRATOR OVERVIEW
Our Wordpress Updates/IT Administrator is in charge of security for www.corepaws.org. This includes updating plugins, wordpress versions, being notified if our website ever goes down and also making back ups of our website every 2-3 weeks. You have basic quality assurance skills which enable you to test that updates to wordpress and plugins have not interfered with the functionality of our website.
SKILLS
- Wordpress experience (required)
- 2+ years Security/IT Skills (you have past work experience in this realm)
- Quality assurance skills
- Communication (you are easy to get ahold of and responsive to emails)
DUTIES
- Once a week checking of Wordpress to see if any plugins or wordpress version needs updated. Doing research and taking general precautions before making any updates.
- Backing up our site every 2-3 weeks
- Connecting to Pingdom or another site that would notify you if our website was down.
- Keeping up to date on Wordpress security trends
This volunteer positions can be done virtually from anywhere in the United States and on your free time. It's a great position for a busy professional that believes in animal rescue and wants to support an organization helping animals with special needs and behavioral issues...and our sweet seniors across the nation. Adopting an animal showcased on Core Paws means a happy tail wag from a 12-year old dog who had lost his owner. It’s a purr from a cat who was diagnosed with congenital heart disease and requires medication for the rest of her life. It’s a trusting approach from an animal who used to fear the world.
