Mission Statement

Pillars mission is to promote true, high quality continuity of care for the emotional, mental, physical and psychological well-being of individuals, families and communities through a multi-disciplinary array of comprehensive social services with a mental health component.

Description

Pillars is a not for profit social service organization formed through the recent merger between Community Care Options (1928) and Pillars Community Services (1968). Pillars keeps our communities healthy and strong by providing quality, community-based social and mental health services to over 10,000 individuals and families annually who are facing challenges and crisis. Through our commitment to "making connections...changing lives," we offer distinctive and innovative programs to meet the comprehensive needs of the 38 diverse communities we serve such as, just to name a few:

Addictions Services offer individually-tailored treatment and therapy for adults and adolescents, helping 1,000 people each year overcome drug and alcohol additions and rebuild their lives. Preventing substance abuse and addiction is also a high priority. Classes for parents and youth teach relationship skills, foster academic success, and seek to prevent alcohol and drug use. A high school program in Summit links adult mentors with teens for tutoring and social guidance.

Adult Mental Health Services provide individual counseling and group therapy for adults.

Adult Wrap focuses on keeping seniors in their communities and preventing premature institutionalization, as well as helping families meet the challenges of caring for older adults through caregiver services.

Buddy's Place offers bereavement counseling for children who have experienced the death of a parent or significant caregiver.

Child and Adolescent Services delivers home and community-based services for children and families in the area who require individualized counseling, group therapy, and parenting support.

Crisis Intervention Services help stabilize personal and family emergencies involving depression, suicidal behavior and mental illness; family conflict and domestic abuse; acute alcohol and drug issues; and sudden traumas which affect entire communities.

Domestic Violence - Constance Morris House is one of Illinois' first and best no-cost shelters offering safe haven, advocacy, and services for women and children experiencing domestic violence. This is the only such shelter in the near western suburbs and it is among the first and only to offer onsite healthcare and substance abuse counseling.

Foxfire Day Treatment provides psycho-educational care for adults with chronic mental illness.

ILC Enterprises job training and helps adults with mental illness succeed in competitive employment.

LaGrange Area Transitional Housing (LATH) helps stabilize families at risk of homelessness by providing housing assistance and mentorship guidance for up to two years.

Safe Schools/Healthy Children addresses school-based mental health issues with children and their parents, and prevents violence among children in local school districts.

Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS) delivers home- and community-based services for children and families. This program is designed to deflect children from psychiatric hospitalization.

Sexual Assault Services offer evaluation, counseling, advocacy and innovative therapies for people affected by sexual assault. A 24-hour sexual abuse crisis line and one of Chicago's only sexual assault programs serving Arab American women are unique innovations.

Staff Development ensures that learning is enhanced for CCO clinicians through culturally-sensitive training, supervision, and consultation with experts in the delivery of mental health services.

The Child and Family Development Center offers Head Start, daycare, and infant toddler programs serve children from primarily low-income, working families, helping them get a good start in life.
