Manos de Cristo (Manos) is a nonprofit that offers ESL classes to students in Austin, Texas. Our ESL classes range from Levels Basic through High Intermediate. Our growing education program relies entirely on volunteer instructors, and that is why we need you!

Our ESL teachers are offered opportunities to teach and gain experience in lesson planning, interpersonal communication and exposure to cultural diversity. Teachers will prepare and administer lessons from reading materials and bring the English language to life from their own real world applications.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to commit to teaching twice a week, Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00-9:00 pm. Classes will begin June 5th and run through July 27th. Previous ESL teaching experience, and if you are bilingual or know some Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement. Volunteers will receive curriculum guides, and additional learning materials from the Manos Resource Library at the Department of Education.

Students who attend classes in person are students who have received the COVID vaccine, and their temperature is taken upon entering the building.

Individuals who are wanting to get hands on training in the world of ESL are highly encouraged to apply. This would also be an excellent opportunity for someone looking to teach English abroad.
