The Mentor Program at CISHOT believes that every child needs and deserves a personal, one-on-one relationship with a caring adult. We seek to meet this need by matching caring adult mentors with the students we serve. Mentor matches meet once per week at the student's school for 30 minutes to 1 hour. During your meeting times, you seek to develop a trusting relationship with your mentee by either playing games, helping him/her with homework, talking about what's going on in his/her world, etc. All of our mentors receive an initial orientation, must be over the age of 18, and must pass a background check. We strongly believe that mentors help CISHOT to accomplish it's mission: to surround students with a community of support, surrounding them to stay in school and achieve in life.
