The Active Aging Program (AAP) of Salt Lake County, Aging Services, is recruiting volunteers who are interested in helping to teach and lead variety of health programs that help the seniors of the Salt Lake County to improve their overall health.
Living Well with Chronic Conditions
The Living Well with Chronic Conditions is a program that can help manage chronic illness so that you can take control of your life. In these series of classes the participants learns different skills and strategies to deal with chronic illness so that they can live a productive life. Some of the skills that this program teaches are: goal setting, problem solving, dealing with emotions, finding resources and support, communication, healthy eating , exercise, treatment decision, and medication management. You can volunteer to lead these classes and support others who suffer from chronic conditions.
Living Well with Diabetes
The Diabetes Self- Management Program is a workshop where people with diabetes or pre-diabetic symptoms attend together. It teaches the skills needed in the day-to-day management of treatment to maintain and/ or increase life’s activities. If you are someone that is currently living with diabetes, are pre-diabetic or are caregivers of someone with diabetes. You can volunteer to lead these classes and help others to manage their diabetes.

As the largest Area Agency on Aging (AAA) in Utah, Salt Lake County Aging Services is the community focal-point for older adults, their families and caregivers; providing a comprehensive system of services that promote the health and wellbeing of older adults while supporting and assisting seniors who need help to remain independent.
There is no such thing as a 'typical’ older person. Their situations and their lives are very diverse. While many seniors are healthy and active, remaining in the workforce, volunteering in their communities or enjoying their friends and families, others are frail and struggle to remain independent. Aging Services is the recognized community leader for aging needs, options and opportunities. WE CAN HELP!
