Give the gift of literacy!
Come to our 6-week tutor training workshop and get matched with an adult/s in Mercer County who need help learning how to read, write, listen to, and speak English better. Our tutors make a wonderful difference in our students' lives. From one of our students: "I was afraid to speak. Lack of confidence makes my English even worse. ... In two years, I went from barely speaking to confidently speaking to any customer who approached me in the store without any problems." Our volunteers tell us over and over that they get as much out of the tutoring relationship as they give. Doesn't this sound like a great way to give to your community?
Our next tutor training workshop will take place on Zoom fromWednesdays, January 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, and March 1 from 6:30-8:30pm. This will be online training, with six face-to-face sessions on Zoom and some independent online assignments. The training will provide you with all the necessary skills and support to become an effective tutor. After the training, you'll be ready to start meeting with a student online or in person once a week.
