Event Description:

Mock Interviews for students in training programs

During training, students will need assistance with, mock interviews, resume review and critique.

The interview panel will include the /students/trainees as well as a volunteer to give them the experience of being on both sides of the interview table. Questions and interview rating sheets and further instruction will be provided on the day of the mock interviews.

Professional attire is required. Must be able to stay for at least 1 session.

About the Department

The Fast Track Department is the foundational academic and professional development training support division for Focus: HOPE’s core training programs. With rich experience in working with diverse populations and diverse learners the Fast Track Team invests in time and resources to help student reach their academic and professional goals.

Our programs can be customized to meet the needs of businesses and community based organizations to raise the skills set and employability of their consumers and or employees. Trainings are based on contact hours and/or within a structured training schedule. Our training is a composite of one or more of our support programs:

  • Fast Track Academics: Math and Reading 8 weeks (3 contact hours per day)
  • Jump Start 1 week (8 contact hours per day)
  • Work Readiness 2 weeks (8 contact hours per day)
  • Customer Service 1 week (8 contact hours per day including proctored certification exam)
  • Computer Literacy 1 week (2 contact hours per day)

Fast Track Academics

Designed to increase the comprehension level of students up to 2 grade levels, Fast Track Academic focuses an intensive 4 hour per instruction day in math and/or reading for 8 weeks. Students are provided with classroom instruction and assistance by professional reading and math teachers who use innovative and relevant lesson to both refresh and teach basic math principles. The instruction is tailored to assist students to have practical application strategies to meet proficiency requirements of the TABE (Test of Basic Adult Education) test.

When you arrive at the front desk, inform the receptionist that you are an interviewer for Fast Track. You will be escorted to the waiting area for the classes.

Description

Focus: HOPE is a human service organization. Founded in 1968 in the wake of the 1967 Detroit riots by Father Willam T. Cunningham (1930-1997) and co-founder Eleanor M. Josaitis (1931-2011), Focus: HOPE unites a multicultural community in common efforts to overcome injustice and build racial harmony. Over the years, Focus: HOPE has initiated practical solutions to the problems of hunger, economic disparity, inadequate education, and racial divisiveness. Answers can be found in Focus: HOPE's technology training programs, educational and corporate partnerships, and food programs.
