Calling All Volunteers:
WALK WITH LIGHT: THE 606: Light The Night will be handing out lanterns at various on ramps to the path for The 606’s event called Walk With Light. There are a total of 10 ramps and we may station ourselves at as many as we’d like. We need volunteers paired up in 2’s to hand out the lanterns to participants of the event who do not already have lights or even if they do! (Stations for volunteers listed below.)
This is a terrific way to not only support our community by participating in the event as volunteers, but also a way to increase our visibility within the community. There will be a flyer attached to each lantern that includes our website for more information about LLS and where to make a donation. We are not allowed to ask for donations on site or in exchange for the lanterns as the The 606 has not agreed to allow us to solicit. This is strictly an awareness opportunity.
Walk with Light
Sunday, December 11 on The 606
4pm - 6:30pm
Starts at Milwaukee & Leavitt and goes to Ridgeway Avenue
If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please send along a list with the names of all other interested parties (if your friends/family want to help, please list their names as well). Please include the 606 access point you’d prefer to be stationed at. We will then ensure you receive a box of lanterns to pass out.
"Let's illuminate The 606 together! We invite you to The 606's 2nd Annual Walk with Light! Gather your friends, family, block club, school group, customers or co-workers to walk the Bloomingdale Trail from Milwaukee/Leavitt Park to Ridgeway Avenue where there will be fire pits, warm refreshments, s'mores, music and light spectacles. To make it special, we challenge you to find a way to bring light with you. No open flames, but feel free to bedeck yourself with a string of lights, glow sticks, carry an LED candle or any other creative way to shine."

Mission Statement
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a blood cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. Our impact is felt beyond blood cancer. The breakthrough treatments we helped advance for blood cancers are now improving the lives of people affected by many types of cancer.
Description
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Illinois Region serves Illinois residents who have been touched by blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Volunteers are our partners in this crusade to end cancer.
