The Director of Athletic Fundraising is responsible for securing financial gifts from individuals, businesses, foundations, and other philanthropic entities to benefit Thomas Academy. Advancement staff has the important responsibility of establishing relationships with donors, working to ensure that donor intent is honored and is clearly communicated and honored. The Director of Athletic Fundraising brings experience in securing significant gifts (less than $25,000; major gifts of over $25,000 are handled by the Director of Major Gifts) and Planned Gifts (Bequests, Trusts, Real Estate) are handled by the Director of Planned Giving. The DAFR plans and conducts strategic face to face meetings followed by contact documentation and follow-up to secure and steward support for Thomas Academy. The DAFR must understand and appreciate the importance of the role of athletics in student success and donor interest, be highly organized, a strong communicator, collaborative, and possess the ability to motivate volunteers, peers, and prospects. DAFR is a self-starter, takes initiative to meet goals, must possess a high level of personal and professional integrity, is willing to travel and able to confidently lead a successful fundraising program including strategic planning, goal setting, implementation, and evaluation to meet performance metrics.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience required plus five or more years of proven fundraising experience with an emphasis in soliciting gifts and stewarding donors.
  • Must adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate an empathetic disposition and perseverance reflect an optimistic and positive attitude and convey sensitivity to needs of donors
