Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) is an IRS-supported, free income tax preparation service for qualifying families in the Pikes Peak Region. VITA Volunteers help individuals and families complete and submit tax fomrs, apply for tax credits, and begin a path towards financial stability.

WHO should be a VITA volunteer?

-Certified Public Accountants

-Accountant of Finance Professional

-Accounting students

-Anyone with experience preparing their own taxes

-Anyone with little to no tax experience who is willing to learn

We are looking for greeters, intake specialists, tax preparers, interpreters, and quality reviewers. You will go through self-paced, online training at Pikes Peak United Way, which will result in IRS tax preparer certication. Volunteer times are available at six sites in El Paso County during days, evenings, and weekends. You will need to donate at least four volunteer hours a week between January 11th and April 30th, 2017. Training dates are on January 11th, 13th, and 19th.
