Mission Statement
Critter Crusaders exists to support the Health, Welfare and Adoption of animals at the Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control shelter and reserves the right to assist other shelters and rescues by special request.
Our mission is to provide medical and surgical treatment that will lead to the restoration of health and adoption for our shelter animals.
We also facilitate placement of animals that do not adopt through the CRACC shelter into foster-based rescues as an alternative to euthanasia.
Description
Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids provides funding for projects that enhance the welfare of the animals at the Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control shelter. Our ongoing project is the financial support we provide routine vetting of all animals sent out to rescue organizations. This includes spay/neuter, required vaccinations, de-worming and heartworm testing., and we provide funding for the major medical needs of the shelter animals. We also assist Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control with shelter needs such as their surgical suite and animal intake room, which we paid for and constructed. We purchased a storage shed for the shelter and, as a result, the space cleared inside the shelter will be utilized for additional dog kennel space. We purchased Kong toys for the dogs and facilitated a fundraising project for the purchase of fleece that was made into blankets for the cats.
