Purpose: We are looking for an intern to act as a teaching assistant for our web development course. This project-based course guides students through a sequence of labs focused on website and web application creation. They will use industry standard tools, design concepts, and programming languages. Successful students will have a solid foundation from which to enter an intensive coding boot camp, build websites and apps as an entrepreneur or leverage on college applications.
Result: Students will have familiarity with HTML, CSS, Java, and the basic principles of web design. The top students will be helped to attain internships.
Suggested Activities: answer students’ questions, promote a productive classroom dynamic.
Measures: We will be tracking student satisfaction with the course as well as the number of students who pass the exam and who land relevant jobs.
Qualifications: Volunteers should be comfortable working with adults who have basic levels of computer literacy and potentially limited English skills. Familiarity with CSS, HTML, Java, and basic web development platforms is preferred. Timeliness, flexibility, and strong organizational skills are essential.
Timeframe: The course meets for two hours every Saturday from 1-3 pm and will run until March
