Under the general supervision of the Walk Coordinator, the intern will be a key member of the WALK MS staff team. Will work on a variety of projects that will help develop customer service, fundraising, marketing and event planning skills
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Work alongside WALK MS Committees as a staff liaison to specified walk sites
- Logistical preparation: various projects including but not limited to material acquisition, warehouse organization, and packing lists
- Assist with marketing and promotion of event
- Monitor Walk MS emails and phone calls - respond to constituent inquires, assist participants with registration questions and needs.
- Assist staff with organization of event and administrative projects (take initiative by asking what else can be done to help the project go smoothly)
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student pursing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Planning, or other related fields. (Recent graduates can also apply)
- Excellent customer service skills; friendly demeanor on the phone and in person
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Good organizational skills; be detail-oriented; and be able to follow through on projects on time
- Results oriented
- Ability to sit in front of computer for a length of time
- Ability to use phone equipment for a length of time
- Ability to lift 20-30 pounds
- Orientation about NMSS handled by the Volunteer Development Manager
- On the job training about specific project will be handled by the supervisor
- Training on society’s database systems and software
Time Commitment:
- 10-20 hours /week
- January - May
- Available weekend of event Saturday, May 6 & Sunday, May 7
