The Community Health Centers of Burlington are running a Low-Barrier Shelter through mid-June, 2019, and we have an ongoing need for donated meals for our guests!
Located across the street from our Safe Harbor Health Center, in the lower level of 179 South Winooski Ave, our Low-Barrier Shelter provides a safe space and care management for single homeless adults during harsh Vermont winters. Newly opened in November, 2016, this model was designed to engage with guests and develop the trusting relationships and connections to long-term services needed to lift them permanently out of homelessness.
Each night we need hearty meals to feed 37 guests. We have a shelter information packet available on our website that explains general policies, the drop-off procedure, where to park, and even some recipe ideas: https://bit.ly/2RGVEhc
We have a MealTrain schedule where you can see available dates and sign up: https://mealtrain.com/q3k23l
IMPORTANT NOTES:
*We are no longer able to accommodate early drop-offs, so please plan accordingly. There is no staff at the shelter prior to 5:30pm.
*We are unable to allow children under 18 into the shelter for insurance purposes.
*We are unable to allow groups of more than 3 in for meal drop-off due to fire code.
Please contact Janine Fleri with any questions at jfleri@chcb.org or 802.264.8191.
Thank you for your interest. Sharing a meal is a great way to support the guests in our care!
