Summary
The purpose of the Community Garden program is not only provide food for those in need, but offer education and experience for residents to grow their own nutritious food supply, thereby fortifying community food security.
Impact
All Learning Garden volunteers have the power to educate, increase self-esteem and strengthen social networks. Our overall goal is to create a long-term solution to hunger by giving people the confidence and ability to be more self-sufficient and improve their eating habits and gardening skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist setting up snacks and water for the workshop participants.
- Support the Instructors as needed; i.e. gathering materials, providing technical help, assisting with workshop activities, etc.
- Help other team members with set-up and clean-up of each class, including but not limited to gathering materials and setting up, assisting with class activities, putting away equipment, and cleaning up the garden and classroom area.
- Assist Course Manager with administrative tasks

Description
Tarrant Area Food Bank distributes food to more than 300 partner agencies in a thirteen county service region. In the past year, TAFB distributed over 30 million pounds of food to neighbors in need. TAFB also offers complementary programs such as nutrition education, food stamp outreach, mobile food distribution, food for children and community gardens for children and adults of our member agencies.
