Support vital restoration efforts in the headwaters of the San Diego River by helping to build a nursery for native plants! You can help lay the foundation for a hoop house nursery at Boulder Creek Preserve outside of Descanso, CA.
The nursery will allow us to propagate and care for native plants, which will be used to restore the Boulder Creek Preserve site, improving the health of the wildlife and aquatic ecosystem!
Together, we will build a foundation, lay out weed cloth, fill in and tamp decomposed granite, install the fittings for hoops and have fun while doing it!
All tools and supplies will be provided. If you have a favorite pair of gloves feel free to bring them, otherwise we will make sure you have everything you need to have a fun and productive day. Community service hours can be verified. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Construction experience preferred, but not required.

Please note: You will be expected to make your own arrangements for travel to and from the location site. There will be a portable restroom on site.

The San Diego River Park Foundation is dedicated to fostering stewardship and appreciation of the region’s namesake waterway. In order to protect and enhance the San Diego River as a place for recreation, habitat, and nature discovery, we are dedicated to engaging people to be stewards of the River and working towards the vision of a 52 mile, river-long system of parks, open spaces, and community places.
Description
We organize many different volunteer stewardship activities each month. River Cleanups, native plant gardening, habitat restoration, volunteer leadership, water quality testing, outreach and education, special event committees, technical committees and more.
