The Los Angeles County Division of the American Heart Association has internship opportunities with our Development/Fundraising team

Through this internship, you will gain insight and practical experience related to event planning, non-profit fundraising, marketing, volunteer recruitment and coordination. You will be responsible for assisting the Social Market team with aspects of the fundraising campaigns including, but not limited to, outreach, planning, data entry, marketing, administrative support, and logistics.

Overview of Responsibilities:

• Event Logistics: Learn and participate in the planning and logistics management for the event including vendor coordination, event marketing and organization of event materials.

• Volunteer Recruitment and Coordination: Act as a point of contact for volunteers and ensure timely, professional communication.

• Fundraising: Secure in-kind donations and assist with outreach efforts and follow-up.

• Marketing: Develop marketing resources including meeting packets and email content.

• Campaign Coordination: Assist with website management, data input and other administrative tasks on a limited basis. Must be able to lift 10-15lbs.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills - written and oral.

• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a professional manner in all dealings with volunteers, staff, and others.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Publisher & Outlook.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Interest in event planning, fundraising, nonprofits, and health.

• Educational background in communications, marketing, public relations, liberal arts, healthcare or related field preferred.
