The primary responsibilities of the VISTA Leader is to provide support to VISTA members, develop and establish VISTA infrastructure and community awareness, and to coordinate service events. The VISTA Leader plays a supportive role in the recruiting, mentoring, and coordinating of AmeriCorps VISTA members. The VISTA Leader will report to the National Service Manager and work closely with VISTA ALIGNS members to ensure the success of the AmeriCorps grant.
VISTA ALIGNS is a group of nonprofit partner agencies in Escambia County, Florida that have committed to identifying and implementing capacity building measures that improve the lives of those in poverty. The mission of the VISTA ALIGNS program is to stabilize the health and financial stability of families in our community who struggle to overcome deficits in education and opportunity. United Way of Escambia County works directly with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to place AmeriCorps VISTA members at VISTA ALIGNS partner agencies, such as Achieve Escambia, to fulfill this mission.

Description
ABOUT UNITED WAY OF ESCAMBIA COUNTY
The United Way of Escambia County's mission is uniting our community and leveraging resources to improve lives. Through the decades, the local campaign has partnered with other charitable entities. In 1943, still known as Community Chest, United Way partnered with the War Fund Drive, creating the first link between the local organization and federal employees.
Since 1988, the United Way has implemented the policy of funding specific agency programs rather than agencies themselves. Currently, United Way funding supports 37 programs at 25 local nonprofit agencies. Donor committees decide on fund distribution and carefully monitor results.
United Way advances the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. Based on a 2006 survey, we determined that the community needs requires a focus on education, financial stability and health - the building blocks for a good quality of life. We recruit the people and organizations from all across the community who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done.
We invite you to be part of the change. You can give, you can advocate and you can volunteer. That's what it means to LIVE UNITED.
