ORGANIZATION: El Sol, Jupiter's Neighborhood Resource Center

Looking to make a difference? El Sol is looking for new AmeriCorps VISTA members! El Sol, Jupiter’s Resource Center is a wonderful place to gain knowledge and real-world experience. Help fight poverty in beautiful Jupiter, Florida.

The Family Program Developer will help coordinate the curriculum and activities to support local immigrant families.

Tasks:

  • Assist developing El Sol’s School for Parents, Summer Camp, and other family health education programs.
  • Assist with strengthening relationships with the local school system to provide resources and support services, and establish stronger communication systems
  • Reviewing and developing lesson plans for children participating in the family programs
  • Coordinating and raising resources to support families
  • Establish partnerships and communication systems with local schools
Requirements: University degree from accredited institution

El Sol's vision is for a premier day-labor center providing skilled, dependable workers to employers. El Sol is also committed to promoting strong economically and ethnically diverse communities in which all people can achieve their highest potential.

El Sol seeks to improve the quality of life for all residents of the Town of Jupiter through:

  • Organizing and supervising Jupiter’s day-labor hiring in a controlled and sanitary atmosphere;
  • Educating Jupiter’s day-laborers and contractors about their rights and responsibilities;
  • Assisting Jupiter’s immigrant population to become an active and integrated part of the larger Jupiter community;
  • Building bridges and communication among the different ethnic, cultural and religious groups in Jupiter;
  • Providing occupational training, language and literacy instruction, counseling, health education, legal and other services to individuals in need.
