Looking to make a difference? El Sol is looking for new AmeriCorps VISTA members! El Sol, Jupiter’s Resource Center is a wonderful place to gain knowledge and real-world experience.

The Worker Development Associate I (WDA)will work with the Worker Development Coordinator to increase workers' skills, making them eligible for higher paying jobs.

Tasks:

  • Increasing workers' employability by developing training workshops that enhance workers' job skills.
  • Developing new partnerships and cultivating existing partnerships with providers who offer vocational workshops at El Sol.
  • Identifying market needs and coordinating appropriate workshops;
  • Developing systems to accurately assess workers' skills
  • Updating worker database so that it reflects new findings from worker skills assessment
  • Recruiting and training volunteers to help coordinate vocational workshops

Requirements: University degree from accredited institution

El Sol's vision is for a premier day-labor center providing skilled, dependable workers to employers. El Sol is also committed to promoting strong economically and ethnically diverse communities in which all people can achieve their highest potential.

El Sol seeks to improve the quality of life for all residents of the Town of Jupiter through:

  • Organizing and supervising Jupiter’s day-labor hiring in a controlled and sanitary atmosphere;
  • Educating Jupiter’s day-laborers and contractors about their rights and responsibilities;
  • Assisting Jupiter’s immigrant population to become an active and integrated part of the larger Jupiter community;
  • Building bridges and communication among the different ethnic, cultural and religious groups in Jupiter;
  • Providing occupational training, language and literacy instruction, counseling, health education, legal and other services to individuals in need.
