The North Bay Heart Walk Logistics Committee exists to build a healthier North Bay Community through creating an exciting, engaging and successful Heart Walk event in Sonoma and Marin Counties.

Objective:

Provide leadership and assist with the logistical details and planning aspects of the North Bay Heart Walk.

General Committee Responsibilities

  1. Actively participate as a member of the committee and fulfill chosen lead area responsibilities

  2. Participate on a Heart Walk Team with the goal to be a VIP Walker ($500+)

  3. Identify and recruit potential Heart Walk teams in the community

  4. Work directly with AHA staff to secure lead area objectives

AHA Staff Responsibilities:

  1. Organize and lead committee meetings

  2. Provide updates to committee members on monthly basis

  3. Serve as a resource and coach for committee members

  4. Assist all volunteers with their lead areas

Committee Leads and Responsibilities Overview:

Route Lead

  1. Coordinate Simple 7 stops along Walk Route

  2. Determine route, start and finish line decorations

  3. Collaborate with Entertainment Lead to secure route entertainment

  4. Coordinate all day-of needs for route volunteers

Entertainment Lead

  1. Secure in-kind musical entertainment for stage at walk-site

  2. Secure children’s and interactive entertainment for walk-site

  3. Collaborate with Route Lead to secure entertainment necessary for walk route

  4. Coordinate all day-of needs for entertainment volunteers

VIP Experience Lead

  1. Secure day-of-event food and enhancements for top walkers

  2. Secure Champions with Heart VIP experience (unique, local experience for walkers who raise $1,000+)

  3. Design layout and organization of VIP tent; decorate accordingly

  4. Coordinate volunteer positions in VIP Tent on day of event

Top Teams Area Lead

  1. Determine decorations and benefits for Top Teams ($5,000 and $10,000) on the day of event

  2. Work with local vendors to secure in kind benefits for Team areas

  3. Coordinate Team photo experience

  4. Work with Teams to create Heart Walk Marketplace

Healthy Food Zone Lead

  1. Work with AHA staff to secure local in-kind food vendors for Heart Walk

  2. Create and compile Heart Healthy Cookbook

  3. Determine volunteer responsibilities needed for day-of

The association's impact goal is to reduce coronary heart disease, stroke and risk by 25 percent by 2010. Progress toward the goal will be measured according to these indicators:

  • Reduce the death rate from coronary heart disease and stroke by 25 percent.
  • Reduce the prevalence of smoking, high blood cholesterol and physical inactivity by 25 percent.
  • Reduce the rate of uncontrolled high blood pressure by 25 percent.
  • Eliminate the growth of obesity and diabetes.
