Volunteering as a tutor for a child experiencing homelessness is a meaningful way to impact your community. School on Wheels is the only agency in Southern California to provide tutoring and educational mentoring to youth without homes. Apply to work at the Skid Row Learning Center today!
No experience is necessary - we provide training. The first step to becoming a tutor is to watch a 2-minute orientation video before completing an application. Watch our video here: http://bit.ly/SOWVolunteerMatch
Skid Row Learning Center Hours:
M, W and F: 3:00pm to 5:45p
T: 2:15 pm to 4:45pm and GYM from 4:45-6:00pm
TR: 3:00pm to 4:45pm and GYM from 4:45-6:00pm
Sat: 9:15 am to 11:30 pm (Closed 1st Saturday of every month)1 Shift

Mission Statement
Since 1993, the mission of School on Wheels has never wavered: to enhance educational opportunities for children who are experiencing homelessness from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Our goal is to shrink the gaps in their learning and provide them with the highest level of education possible. Our program serves as a consistent support system for our students during a time of great stress and fear.
Description
We are currently seeking online volunteer tutors who:
are 18 and older,
live in California,
have stable high-speed internet access,
have a computer with a webcam, and
are comfortable tutoring in a digital environment.
In order to complete your application, you'll need the following information: your general availability to tutor (days of week, morning/afternoon/evening), an emergency contact (name and phone), and 2 non-family references (name/phone/email).
With this information, it will usually take less than 10 minutes to complete your application. To successfully submit it, you must complete the entire form, including the signature page.
