It’s time to think about winter and Science Fairs. We will be hosting out annual Science Fair and Dissection training for anyone who hasn't done this and would like to learn! Science Fairs typically take place in the evening at schools all over King County and last about 2 hrs. It works best when two people go, one to do the dissection of a salmon and one to manage a lot of questions and help students with the microscope. There will be an option on the sign-up to choose what you will do that night once we post the dates. With travel time you’re looking at about 3 to 4 hours out of your evening, and mileage reimbursement is available! Yipee!

Training will be held Wednesday, January 18th from 5:30-7:30pm in the Watershed Science Center. Please sign up to attend training.

PLEASE NOTE:

Primary-- IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING UP SCIENCE FAIR KIT + SALMON AND DRIVE TO SCHOOL ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT

Secondary--Will either meet primary at the hatchery to carpool or meet them there.

Mission Statement

Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery (FISH) is a nonprofit organization that champions protecting our salmon and ensuring their survival for future generations through education, advocacy, and outreach.

Description

The Issaquah Salmon Hatchery is the most visited of all the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's hatcheries. Approximately 350,000 people visit the hatchery each year. FISH volunteers are instrumental in educating these hatchery guests.

FISH volunteers are trained by biologists, watershed managers and hatchery staff to provide accurate and interesting information about salmon to hatchery guests. Volunteers will provide tours to visitors, many of them school-aged children from around the Puget Sound region. The Issaquah Salmon Hatchery regularly sees visitors from around the world who have heard about the magnificent return of salmon to Issaquah Creek.
