Babysteps Ministry

Our ministry provides meals to the homeless of City Hall Park (Seattle) on the 2nd Saturday of every month.

Because our focus is relational, we purposely prepare home-cooked meals that are plated and shared at these events. Then, our trained volunteers work to engage the homeless in conversation and initiate friendships.

We need help shopping for these events. We will provide a detailed list of items (by Item Number) that you can purchase from Cash & Carry and then drop off at the home of whomever is cooking (unless you'd also like to prepare the meal!).

At this time, we do not have a way to provide the money before you shop, but you will be promptly reimbursed.

Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hours, (shopping + drop off) in the 2nd week of every month (usually Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday).

Required Skills: Attention to detail. Strong commitment to stick to a budget. Ability to lift heavy food items (like boxes of bottled water). Volunteer must have a car or ability to travel with large amounts of food.

About BABYSTEPS MINISTRY

Location:

11109 Slater Ave NE, #200A, Kirkland, WA 98033, US

Mission Statement

Motivated by the love of Jesus, Babysteps Ministry seeks to empower the homeless to take small steps toward lasting life change through relational discipleship.

Description

Babysteps uses a relational approach to solve homelessness. Our first step is not usually to meet physical needs. It’s to be friends. To understand. To just be. Homeless men and women are people, just like you. Isolation and feeling ignored are two of the worst things for anyone to experience. They crush the spirit. Demoralize the soul. Harden the heart. And homeless people live with them every day. This is their single greatest need, and no amount of free food will meet it.
