Description Are you a smart, witty, informed writer who wants to be a part of a movement that empowers women? Join us!

Project GirlSpire, a global social change initiative that promotes sisterhood, female empowerment, and the equal rights + treatment of women and girls by telling their stories + exploring their passions + art. We love learning about women and girls, who are doing incredible things in their communities and/or the world at large.

We provide a global platform for the stories of girls and women to be told, their imaginations to run loose, their voices to be heard, their interests to be discussed and encourage them to be the truest versions of themselves. We’re informative, raw, accepting, creative, and original. We create a vast range of content that ranges from book talk to STEM, art to music, movies to TV, fashion to advocacy, world issues to education, events to gender and sexuality. We have something for everyone’s interests, but we choose to create, inform, celebrate and promote as opposed to criticizing and condemning. We celebrate and embrace diversity and culture, and believe it’s possible to be positive and still remain true to ourselves. We aren’t cool because we do what’s popular, we’re cool because we’re uniquely ourselves and know no other way to be. Responsibilities -You must be tenacious enough to find stories no one else is writing
-Interview girls and women with interesting stories to tell
-Decide on what type of pieces you'd like to write (human interest, lists, entrepreneurship, pop culture, book reviews, etc.)
-Stay up-to-the-minute on trending pop culture and lifestyle news that affect girls and women locally, domestically, and globally.
-Production of new articles, video and social content.
-Brainstorm new ideas and topics to cover
-General editorial duties like fact checking, interviewing, transcribing and copy editing
-Write daily articles, blurbs, headlines, copy, social media posts, you name it.

Requirements We are looking for uniquely smart, talented and driven editorial interns to join our team. We want you if you’re a phenomenal writer who’s interested in editing, researching and brainstorming on a variety of topics, ranging from health to food, family to entertainment and everything in between. You’ll leave with a wide assortment of clips and killer editorial experience key to snaring a job in media or publishing.

Description

Resources and Outreach for Liberia (ROL) is a registered nonprofit organization based in the U.S. and Liberia. The goal of ROL is to bridge the gap between Liberia's underserved girls and women to first world education and resources through our program, Project READ (Restoration Education Arts Development). For the last year, Project READ has acquired over 100,000 books and supplies with a goal of opening a female-run library cafe and drop-in center in Liberia, a safe place for girls to learn, explore, network, and work. Project READ will be a safe haven from Liberia's high rate of gender-based violence and an opportunity to explore new worlds through books. There are no public libraries and absolutely no safe spaces for girls in Liberia, so this program is novel.

In order to help fund Project READ's endeavors, Sang Kromah, ROL's Executive Director started a global social change initiative, Project GirlSpire, an online media platform that allows the stories of girls and women to be told, their imaginations to run loose, their voices to be heard, their interests to be discussed and encourage them to be the truest versions of themselves. We’re informative, raw, accepting, creative, and original.
