At our San Pedro Site, our highest volunteer need is for tutors & education based volunteers. This volunteer role will provide our members with individual and small group tutoring and homework assistance in the Learning Center.

Join us as we strive to improve academic achievement by helping our youth with homework and/or reviewing class material. Other assistance might include: discussing the text, predicting test questions, formulating ideas for papers, or working on solutions to problems.

Mission Statement

True to its mission since 1937, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor helps young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. We achieve this through a commitment to quality programs and services in an environment that is safe, nurturing and inspiring.

Description

BGCLAH offers assistance to youth, specifically low-income youth. We offer daily programming which includes Academics (tutoring), Athletics (sports leagues, general sports), Arts, STEM, Music, Dance, and College Preparation. We have needs in all program areas in which outreaching for consistent volunteers are vital for our organization to run since our members thrive off of 1-on-1 assistance. We also have a need for our Food Distribution Program (Weekend Wellness) which hosts a once a month distribution for our families and the community facing food insecurity. We need volunteers for this program since it requires a lot more labor and the more hands on deck, the more beneficial it is for our staff and program to run.
