At HI USA, we believe in the power of travel to open minds and the power of community service to open hearts. Above all, we believe that these experiences should be rewarding - not costly. That's why, for the sixth consecutive year, we are offering groups across the country free overnight stays at HI USA hostels in January and February through our Great Hostel Give Back (GHGB) program.
What is GHGB?
During January and February, qualifying groups of 6 or more people receive one free night's stay (up to five nights) at an HI USA hostel for each day its members spend volunteering at least two hours in the community surrounding the hostel.
HI USA’s lounges, kitchens, and dining rooms ensure plenty of opportunities to connect with other travelers. We invite your group to join in with our free events, tours and activities to meet like-minded travelers and explore the hidden gems of the city.
Whether you are service group, a college group or just a group of friends wanting to visit somewhere new and give back to the community, apply now for the Great Hostel Give Back program and help us make the world a better place.

Description
A haven for all, from backpackers and the budget-minded to families and conference or school groups, HI Monterey welcomes guests in both traditional European dormitory-style quarters and private family rooms.
Ideally located near Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Monterey Hostel is convenient toconference centers and major hotels as well as historic downtown Monterey, Fisherman's Wharf and local bus lines. The Monterey Bay Coastal Trail, which runs 18 miles between Pacific Grove and Castroville, is just blocks away and lined with cafes, shops and bicycle and kayak rental outlets.
The Monterey Hostel is a member of Hostelling International USA, a national nonprofit, dedicated to encouraging travel and hosteling as a means to promote peace and global understanding.
