Other Pertinent Information: If you are interested in volunteering with the YWCA, but this position is not the perfect fit for you, please consider the YWCA Retail and Customer Service Program’s other volunteer position, "Volunteer Instructor." Additionally, if you cannot volunteer in December, please remember that the program starts the 3 rd Tuesday of every month, so you have the opportunity to help people all year.
Description: The YWCA is seeking Shift Leaders to supervise program participants of the YWCA Retail and Customer Service Program. The program is designed to increase the employment readiness of participants using the Secret Seconds store as a means of gaining a stable career path. This program offers a combination of educational workshops, job readiness, and individualized coaching. The program aims to help participants build basic workplace skills, self-esteem and confidence which will translate into better paying, stable employment for the volunteers and move them out of poverty.
The program starts every third Tuesday of the month. It is a 40 hour course that consists of a combination of workplace readiness classes as well as on-the-job training in our retail stores. Upon completion of the program, the graduate will receive a certificate of completion, a letter of reference, and 100.00 Secret Seconds Bucks. Summary of Job and Specific Duties:
- Receive training from a YWCA instructor.
- Act as Shift Leader-supervise program participants during their On-Site training shift.
- Give feedback about appropriate work behavior to program participants.
- Teach a new "Skill of the day" each shift.
- Watch proudly as your students graduate with a job in the Missoula workforce.

**We would prefer that our instructors have experience in the workforce, so they can confidently discuss job readiness classes with program participants. Additionally, we would prefer that the shift leader is up-to date on resume/interviewing information. If the shift leader feels that they need to review current information, we recommend that the instructor attends the free Job Service classes. The classes repeat monthly, and are a total of 5 hours at Job Service.
A breakdown of hours for program participants (the hours for the shift leader are in bold):
5 hours of instruction at the YWCA
+ 5 hours of job readiness classes at Job Service
+ 30 hours of On-Site training in our Secret Seconds Stores(SHIFT LEADER WILL SUPERVISE THESE SHIFTS)**
= 40 hours total of job readiness training for program participants
Benefits: After completing 40 hours of volunteer work, volunteers will receive a Secret Seconds year-long membership.
