Pertinent Information: If you are interested in volunteering with the YWCA, but this position is not the perfect fit for you, please consider the YWCA Retail and Customer Service Program’s other volunteer position, "Shift Leader."Additionally, if you cannot volunteer in December, please remember that the program starts the 3 rd Tuesday of every month, so you have the opportunity to help people all year.

Description: The YWCA is seeking Volunteer Instructors to teach program participants of the YWCA Retail and Customer Service Program. The program is designed to increase the employment readiness of participants using the Secret Seconds store as a means of gaining a stable career path. This program offers a combination of educational workshops, job readiness, and individualized coaching. The program aims to help participants build basic workplace skills, self-esteem and confidence which will translate into better paying, stable employment for the volunteers and move them out of poverty.

The program starts every third Tuesday of the month. It is a 40 hour course that consists of a combination of workplace readiness classes as well as on-the-job training in our retail stores. Upon completion of the program, the graduate will receive a certificate of completion, a letter of reference, and 100.00 Secret Seconds Bucks. Summary of Job and Specific Duties:

1. Receive training from a YWCA instructor.
2. Teach YWCA program participants "job readiness" material.
3. Give appropriate feedback to program participants.
4. Review homework (look over revised resumes).
5. Watch proudly as your students graduate with a job in the Missoula workforce.

Conditions of the Job: volunteer will teach program participants in the YWCA office.

Schedule: Day(s) The Volunteer Instructor will teach 3 classes:

• 10:00am - 12:00pm, Class 1, YWCA Office, "Orientation"
• 10:00am - 11:30pm, Class 5, YWCA Office, "Job Retention"
• 10:00am - 11:30am, Class 7, YWCA Office, "Job Success"

Pertinent Information: **We would prefer that our instructors have experience in the workforce, so they can confidently teach job readiness classes. Additionally, we would prefer that the instructor is up-to date on resume/interviewing information. If the instructor feels that they need to review current information, we recommend that the instructor attends the free Job Service classes. The classes repeat monthly, and are a total of 5 hours at Job Service.

A breakdown of hours for program participants (the hours for the volunteer position are in bold):

**5 hours of instruction at the YWCA-VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTOR**

+ 5 hours of job readiness classes at Job Service

+ 30 hours of On-Site training in our Secret Seconds Stores

= 40 hours total of job readiness training for program participants
