Join us as a volunteer for our Homeless Persons Memorial Day ("HPMD"). HMPD is a national day of commemoration for anyone who passed away while experiencing homelessness. It will be held on Wednesday, December 21st during the winter solstice, the longest night of the year. The memorial includes reading the names of those who have passed this year while unstably housed in NYC with a candle lit in their honor and a bell tolled in remembrance. It is a program that is free and open to the public, as an opportunity to remember and advocate for better policy that can end homelessness as we know it.
During the program we would like to have a violinist play 1 or 2 songs. The program is set to begin at 5 p.m., therefore we would ask the musician to be there from 4:30 - 6 p.m. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Care for the Homeless is a non-profit organization that operates 30 medical clinics in partnership with shelters, soup kitchens, and drop in locations throughout the city. We also operate a 200-bed, transitional residence for homeless women in the Bronx called Susan’s
